zinc
Zinc is an essential mineral (trace element) that is found in almost every cell. It plays an important role in many enzymes, supports a healthy immune system, is needed for the wound healing process, helps maintain sense of taste and smell, and is needed for DNA synthesis. Zinc is found in a wide variety of foods: Oysters contain more zinc than any other food, but red meat and poultry provide the majority of zinc in the diet. Other good sources include milk products, beans, nuts, certain seafood and whole grains.
