vacuum packaging

A method of increasing the shelf life of foods. One of the factors in the deterioration of foods is contact with oxygen in the air. Vacuum packaging seals the food into a plastic covering which excludes air completely, delays deterioration and, in addition, tenderizes meat. Nutrients, consistency, visual appeal and taste are maintained. The foods must be chilled or frozen to prevent spoiling by microorganisms.
