use by date
Highly perishable foods must carry a use by date, as opposed to a best before date, clearly marked on labeling. It indicates until when the food must be consumed and applies only as long as the packaging is unopened. When the use by date has passed, the food must be discarded to avoid health risk. Types of food included in this group are raw ground meat, fish and poultry.
