traceability
The traceability of foods is anchored in EU food safety legislation. It serves the purpose of examining the food chain through all stages of processing in order to ensure food safety. Due to increasingly complex goods flow, food manufacturers are obliged to document all goods receipt and deliveries including the name of the supplier or customer. This documentation must be produced on the request of the controlling authorities. In the case of product recall, it also helps to isolate those products to which recall must be applied.
