phosphorus

Phosphorus is a mineral which is stored in the human body as phosphate. Phosphorus helps build bones and teeth and, as part of every cell in the body, plays an important part in energy metabolism. Phosphorus requirements are easily met through consumption of milk products, meat and fish. Phosphates are also used as additives in food manufacture (e.g. in coke, processed cheese) and must be declared on labeling with the appropriate E-number.
