Mediterranean cuisine

Healthy cuisine from the Mediterranean region: it includes components which prevent nutrition-related disease such as overweight and cardiovascular disease.

Important elements are:

  • pasta, potatoes, rice, bread
  • liberal amounts of fruit and vegetables
  • liberal amounts of fish
  • minimal quantities of meat and milk products
  • vegetable, unsaturated fats (e.g. olive oil) instead of animal, saturated fats.
