food pyramid

Visual portrayal of the ideal relative amounts of various groups of food in the diet which go to make up healthy nutrition in the form of a pyramid. The larger the area representing a particular food group, the more often and the more generously it should be consumed. Foods at the bottom of the pyramid are therefore prioritized and those at the top, should consumed in moderation only. Despite minimal differences in the portrayal, there is clear agreement among nutritional experts that healthy nutrition should be rich in carbohydrates and vitamins and contain moderate amounts of protein and little fat.
