coloring
Coloring may be added to foods in order to maintain or intensify natural color during storage and preparation. These foods are more attractive to consumers as the color suggests freshness and quality.
We differentiate between:
- natural coloring (virtually risk-free)
- natural identical coloring (virtually risk-free)
- artificial coloring (the EU issues regulations for use)
Coloring is a food additive and must be declared. Foods are labeled with the appropriate E number (100-180).
