ADI value

The ADI value (Acceptable Daily Intake) is the amount of a substance that a person can ingest in food over a lifetime without health risk and is given in milligrams per kilogram body weight. It refers, for example, to food additives and pestizides. ADI values are set by international panels of experts – e.g. the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA),  the WHO/FAO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA).
